That's a tough call. Has she been taking it very long? If not, I would say give her a month or two to see if after the side effect wear off she would go back to normal.... My husband has epilepsy and I know a few of the meds make him awfull. A good friend of mine has CP and has alot of siezure's as well but no strokes thank goodness. They thought it was infantile spasms when he was younger (now 5) but finally was ruled out. Poor little guy has had his meds switched so many times they just slow down for a bit and then get worse again........I suppose if I was in your situation I would stick with the meds for a while to see how she does. I only say that because I think of what another stroke could do to her vs. her walking regression and agressiveness. The lesser of two evils. I'm sorry I am absolutely no help.

Doctors do the same thing here. Maybe if you demands getting to try her on a new meds he will listen better. Anyone that has any sort of siezure disorder knows not all of the meds react the same in every person. You are her mom, the dr is just the dr. Be a bitch then be one. If it doesn't work ask for a new neurologist if you can do that there. She has been on them since August her being agressive probably isn't going to get any better..... I'm sorry you even have to deal with having to make such a frightening choice. Just remember that you know more about your daughter then all of her doctors put together.

My son was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms on his first birthday and he was put on ACTH inj and they made him absolutely miserable. He cried all day and night and did not smile for weeks. I hated those meds. My advice is to give her time on these meds. It took my son a few weeks on the ACTH for it to start working. Sometimes the side effects are just as harmful to the body, as seizures are harmful to the brain. And if you do not trust your doctor or feel ignored, I would drop him. You need to find a doctor you can trust with your child's health. Best of luck and prayers for your daughter
