Sometimes the doctors only know what they've been TOLD about the different prescriptions and their uses. My mother was prescribed something for Diabetes that almost killed a close friend of ours. His internal organs were literally floating inside his body. Thankfully she researched before taking them. Her Dr said he didn't know overly much, he just knew what they could be used to treat, what other meds they could be taken with and a few of the small side effects. Basically what the salesman told him.

Exactly! Or a beware of dog sign. That means there's a dog. If you come in the yard and get attacked, don't act all surprised

It's this way with everything, including vaccines. Doctors are basically told "vaccines are good, diseases are bad."

Our medical system is all about the mighty dollar. They should promote healthy living and natural treatments...but that's not where the money is.

Actually, Cymbalta is also used to treat chronic pain. The mechanism it uses to treat depression also works for pain...it's widely prescribed in diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia, etc. We use it in the nursing home all the time.
