I was in the ER today, and they gave me a dose. I felt loopy as smurf, and high as smurf. But, I never was able to fall asleep....maybe because I was nervous because I hate taking meds in the first place...


So, does morphine make you sleepy?

I don't know? I know its meant to take away the pain and it can cause drowsiness. I am allergic so I only remember that it made me swell up and throw up.

It makes a lot of people sleepy but it can also have the opposite effect for some. Many experience an extreme "psychological high" in addition to the physical side effects and this accounts for those warm and fuzzy feelings people experience.

Morphine releases a lot of "feel good" chemicals in the brain and thousands and thousands of connections are made in a short period of time. This generates that amazing, giddy feeling a lot of people have. Sometimes the psychological side effects can override the tiredness it might cause. It also has a lot to do with dosage, medical history, etc., not to mention every person is different in how they react to any particular drug.

Long story short, it's not that abnormal that you didn't end up getting tired.

It always makes me sleepy.

I was just like, odd at first. Like so sweet and giggly. I came home, and I couldn't even hold Evelynn because my body felt all jelly-like. But, I was sitting in front of her talking to her all sweet. lol.
I thought it'd make me sleep, but looks like no matter what I am not sleeping. lol. I have a serious problem with sleep lately. Even when she sleeps, I can't.

yes it makes you sleepy and feel high .. They say its ok to take while pregnant but common sense its not good .. it made me feel sick!

I am breastfeeding, and even though it's considered safe, I still pumped and dumped. I don't like taking meds while breastfeeding, nor did I like to when pregnant. I barely even took tylonel while pregnant. lol.
