Home birth VBAC... I did it!! (Long labor story) *pics*

posted 13th Nov
I'd been having BH for months, but all day Sat. I noticed they were getting mildly painful with lots of pressure. That night, I woke up to a contraction once around 3am, then around 6am (Sun morning) they were strong and about 10 mins apart. Couldn't sleep after that! Once I got up, the contractions seemed to get further apart. I updated my midwife via facebook. She told me to get food & rest for awhile, which I did for awhile. After I got up, contractions got to about 2-7 mins apart. My MIL stopped by to bring things & decided to check baby's HR. (She used to be a midwife). I asked my midwife when I should contact her again. She said when my contractions are a steady 4-5 mins apart for about an hour. Throughout the day, my contractions continued to get longer & stronger, but the time between them kept fluctuating and just seemed to be all over.. It felt like I'd be in labor for days!! My midwife told me to rest & that my contractions could be getting stronger from getting overtired. Around 6pm, I layed down & it slowed them back down to 8-9 mins apart. I slept between them until about 7:30... When I woke up, they felt really strong. I told DH that it felt like I had a lot of pressure down there. He decided to call his mom because she lived close. She came over around 8 and wanted to check me. When she did, she said that I was already dilated to 8cm & we were both shocked! I couldn't understand how I was dilated that much when my contractions were so far apart.. She made me lay down until the midwives got there (my personal midwife was about 1hr 1/2 away!) Labored laying on the couch for awhile. Shortly after my midwife got there, my water broke during a contraction. Was starting to feel really pushy.. They made me get up to use the bathroom, then I felt like I couldn't leave the toilet.. Eventually made it to the bedroom, though. Leaning over the bed on my knees, I pushed until I couldn't hold myself up anymore. Then I lay on my side on the bed, continuing to push.. Took about 45 mins of pushing. Her hand was up by her head and her cord was wrapped around her neck 3 times, but she cried as soon as her head was out. A few more pushes and she was born!! 11/11/12 at 11:03 pm.

How wonderful! I really admire anyone who does all natural home births. I feel like not enough women consider giving birth this way. I am definitely interested in trying this with my next child. Women who accomplish this are pretty much my heroes

She's beautiful. Congratulations!
