Suggestions?

posted 13th Nov
There are quite a few people on my Facebook doing the paleo diet. What does this entail? Would it be good for someone with PCOS? I need to lose a lot of weight but with my PCOS it is extremely hard to. Plus I'm on medications that make you gain weight. No matter what I do. Even eating 1000 calories a day does nothing. Exercising does nothing. I believe if I start losing weight I may feel better about myself. I eat a lot of veggies now and don't eat meat at every meal. I don't drink soda and I drink only water. I don't know where else to turn...

I don't eat carbs, and I think Paleo is similar to that.

How much do you want to lose?

Over 50 pounds. When I was in the hospital I gained 40 pounds rapidly. All within the last two months. I will still be overweight though. I can't starve myself though. I know with PCOS you shouldn't eat carbs and I try my hardest not to.

The less carbs you eat, the less you will crave carbs. You shouldn't be eating only 1000 calories per day, though. It's not good for you and probably won't even help you lose weight.

When I was in the hospital I was on a 1000-1400 calorie a day diet and I hated it. It did nothing for me. I hope I stop craving carbs.

Yeah, the thing about ketogenic diets is you can NOT cheat on them. The goal is to get your body in a state of ketosis (fat burning mode). If you eat low carb all day and then reward yourself with a cookie before bed, you've just spent the whole day eating high fat foods and then added high sugar anyway.

You can do it. If you were willing to eat only 1000 calories a day, a low carb plan should be a piece of cake...errr...not cake...meat
