Go to sleep!

posted 13th Nov
My DD will be 4 in February and we have a pretty regular routine. She goes to daycare all day, we come home, take the puppy for a walk, eat dinner, bath, tv time, story time, then bed.

She ALWAYS comes out of her room a million times with a million excuses. She usually goes to bed at 9pm, some nights she'll be up until midnight coming out of her room. It makes me mad because we have to wake up at 7-8am to get ready so I can take her to daycare and I can go to school. I don't think that's enough sleep for her.

What can I do to make sure she stays in her room or at least limit her "excuses" so she goes to bed at a reasonable time?

SO's son did this for a while, and once we stopped giving in to the excuses he stopped making them. We had to get really firm with bed time, because he would stay up all night if we let him.

Sure, can you tell me what one you use for your kids?

I don't give in to her excuses though. She just keeps repeating them and coming up with new ones. I know she just wants to watch TV with me but she needs her sleep.

SO's son did this, and it was SO frustrating. We started putting a baby gate in his bedroom doorway, and once he fell asleep we would take it down. He doesn't really do it anymore, but he does have his nights.

Don't mind the dog. It's meant for kids.

Hmm, maybe a baby gate will work. Then she'd probably stand in her doorway making excuses and calling my instead of coming in my room

I love it! I wonder if she'd be able to open it from the inside
