It's not the sperm that's the issue. When you're dilated that early, the barrier that would normally keep vaginal bacteria in the vagina and the uterus sterile isn't there anymore. When you have sex without a closed cervix, it's shoving a ton of that bacteria right where it shouldn't be. This isn't such a big deal when you're full term, but when it's pre-term it is. It can cause your water to rupture ... etc..etc.. I didn't realize that OP was 36 weeks.

True, true. Didn't think about it like that.

We're talking about pre-term labor. It's a whole different issue. If you're uterus already *wants* to contract, doing something that causes contractions even if they don't last in normal people, isn't a good idea. I'm not just pulling this info out of my rear. lol I'm quoting my high risk dr and her reasons for not wanting me to do any of that stuff. As far as OP goes though, she's almost 37 weeks, she can have as much sex as she wants to at this point. lol

You'd be amazed of how many doctors still spout off data that is incorrect.

http://www.pregnancy-info.net/sex_orgasm.html

"Though it is now accepted that orgasms are perfectly safe for most pregnant women, there are some situations in which orgasms are not advised. Women who are at risk for preterm labor should not have orgasms, as they could increase the risk of kicking off labor contractions."

I stand by what i said. Pre-term labor is different. If you're not in labor, orgasm isn't going to throw you into labor. If you're already *in* labor like you would be with pre-term labor, doing stuff that causes your uterus to contract more often and stronger is a bad idea.

I agree that dr's do spout off a lot of bad info, but my dr's are the best of the best because I'm so high risk. They're at the top of their field.
