Factor V Leiden

Anyone else have this? It's hard to deal with when you ha e no one to relate to :/ just me and my pregnancy hormones being sad....

No, but I have MTHFR and other clotting factors. I have recurrent miscarriages because of it. I can link you to the clotting disorders thread. You will be able to find someone with Factor V in there.

I know they were going to give me factor V if I bled too much in the hospital. I have a blood disorder called a platelet aggregation abnormality. pretty much I have enough platelets but they don't function correctly. What does yours cause to happen? I am guessing it causes clots?

Is it possible to have a combination of both? My dr wrote it down on a pice of paper and it also says MTHFR on it. I really didn't know much about it until I web MD'd it...it suck :/ I have a serious genetic mutation my family never knew this could be genetic. I'm also a CF gene carrier. Makes me wonder what else my mother never tested for   smh

Yes, it's possible. MTHFR causes the body to improperly absorb folic acid and it can predispose to blood clots. Have you ever had issues staying pregnant?

Sorry to hear that. Mine can affect my pregnancy in various ways, it does cause clotting which can lead to many scary things like early placenta detachment

Yes I have to take more folic acid than the avg pregnant woman (10x's the amnt I think) which is why I take so much folic acid + an 81mg "baby aspirin" . I started to have issues with my pregnancy in the very beginning with my 3yo. I had unexplained bleeding and clotting. Which is when my dr sent me to get some genetic testing. And now with this pregnancy, I have to be on the same regimen. I was recently hospitalized on an unrelated complication and they would not let me take my aspirin incase I needed a surgical procedure. And I'm feeling so guilty because I know I NEED to take my medicine daily.
