Love higher taxes?

posted 12th Nov
Because if Congress doesn't do anything about the fiscal cliff we're heading for, everyone's taxes are going up at the end of this year.

The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center says that if all the scheduled tax increases occur, the average household would have to fork over an extra $3,400 to Uncle Sam next year. Here's the average hike taxpayers would face, broken down by income group:

--Lowest fifth of households (average income: $11,239): $412

--Second-lowest fifth (average income: $29,204): $1,231

--Middle fifth (average income: $49,842): $1,984

--Second-highest fifth (average income: $80,080): $3,540

--Highest fifth (average income: $178,020): $14,173

--Top 1 percent (average income: about $1.3 million): $120,537

So, are you ladies so excited about your taxes going up? I know I am. The government knows how to spend my money much better than I do.

Oh yes!

Just look at the post office. Gotta love how efficient they are!

Oh, but we're greedy for not wanting to pay more.

The government is always right. Anyone who questions it isn't fit to be an American.

Or so I've been told.

I'm just so excited!

I hope my portion goes to some special interest group like Solyndra!

I can't wait to pay more! And, year after next, I will be making more than $250k. How much of that can I give to Obammy?

Oh yes! It will be wonderful to watch us go into another recession!
I'm in the top 1% (not making $1.2M) and can look forward to carrying even more of the load.

On a serious and sad note, the ones that will feel this the most are NOT the 1%ers. It's all the people they support and employ - the middel class and the lower-income. We will stop living like rich people and mive like middle class people. The means our money will not be distributed throughout the economy like it is today.

I think congress will milk this situation til the last second and then they'll miraculously come to an agreement where they don't tax the 99%ers and the economy will be saved!

At least, that's how congress and the media will paint it, so the drooling masses will believe that congress cares about us and is saving us from financial disaster.

I agree. They will not increase taxes for those making $200k but they will probably increase taxes for those making $1M and more. The number of people in that group is very small and the taxe revenue is relatively small.
BUT, they will show that they "stuck it to the bad guys" and shhifted even more tax burden to those carrying the most today.
It makes no sense.
I just hope that the Rs are able to make more than a dent in spending. Cuts should be real cuts and not just reductions in increases.

Sorry Charlie, even the poor are supposed to be paying more after this tax hike goes through.

But don't worry. I know you might have needed that extra money to pay for shoes for your child or a winter coat or food to feed them, but Obama will make sure it finds a nice home...with one of his Wall Street Lobbyist friends.

I pay 37c in the $1. I don't mind though because higher taxes means better programs/quality of care, which means more people working, which means better economy and therefore higher wages. It all evens out in the end
