period/diarrhea like cramps along with horrible back pains

I am almost 37 weeks so technically baby could come any time now. I lost my mucus plug last night and ever since then I have been having period/diarrhea like cramps (i know they aren't contractions) I only have slight contractions and the ones i do get that are strong are only like 3 an hour and have been like this for 2 or 3 weeks. I've also been having horrible lower back pains. Literally like someone is taking a knife/multiple knives and stabbing me in my lower back. and before and after my "real contractions" i will have a major pain shoot down my right hip, it will start like 4 inches above my hip down to the middle of my thigh, making me have to stop walking or whatever im doing and wait until it stops. I already called the doctor and she told me to wait until it starts feeling more like contractions and to wait until they get 5-10 minutes apart. With my son I literally didn't feel any contractions until I got to the hospital and hooked up to the monitors. I only had severe back pain. I am being seen at a different hospital this time around so I have a different doctor. I have been having back pain on and off for the last 2 weeks but yesterday and tonight its getting worse. I have been crying for the last 20 minutes because of it and she still tells me not to come in and to just try a heat pad or warm bath/shower.

That's what my contractions felt like in the beginning of my labor. That's what back labor feels like...
I never actually felt my uterus contracting or anything I only knew it was contractions because the nurses told me...it didn't feel like them at all.

She just gives you advice! It's your choice to go in and be observed. No one has a right ever to tell a pregnant woman at any stage in her pregnancy NOT to come in.Sounds like you need to be evaluated! Good luck your almost there!!

That is exactly how I was with my son, I never felt a contraction until this time around and she tells me that they aren't close enough. but she isn't considering how much sm*rfing pain im in. I tried telling her about my last pregnancy and she just tells me "oh just take a warm bath". I almost want to call my old hospital just for a second opinion but I dont know

I would take a warm bath, eat some food, pack your bag and head in!

I would just go in, it doesn't hurt to just take a drive and go in, worse comes.to worse they will just send you home good luck

I have back labor and my contractions feel like period cramps. I go really quick so they induce me at 38wks to keep me from having mine at home. Go to L&D and be checked. My second doctor did not believe me and the I was checked and my water broke. My doctor refused to believe I went into labor that quick and early when the L&D called. I was almost 38wks and his butt just wanted to be lazy and not get out the bed to deliver my baby. Long story short my daughter was born a few hours later. Go get checked to be safe.
