Epidural question..

How long after you get a epidural & deliver your baby until you can get up and walk around. Basically like how long until it wears off and you are allowed to get out of bed and what not ? Just curious.

mine took about 6 hours to wear off

Mine took about 6 to 7 hours, but I slept a lot of it off. But depending on how you feel after you have your LO you wont want to get up... after they sewed me up and what not I stayed in bed a ate and slept and then they brought my LO in and I sat in bed with her for a while

as soon as they took it out. I always feel everything with them, but it takes the edge off the contraction pain. I had stitches, so I would say maybe 20 min and I was up walking around.

With my oldest it took about an hour, maybe 2. With my second it took 4 hours I think. I also had it for a few hours longer than with my first.

A hour tops with all three.

They told me as long as I can walk I can get up so right after I was done delievering everything I was gone out of the bed both times

Before i was allowed to walk? 18 hours later

It wore off about 4 hrs after. I wasn't allowed to get up for 24 hours. I'm not sure if it was because the epidural or the magnesium. Both messed me uo.

Maybe 2 hours? They made me get up to pee

Just wondering I have never been in the hospital more then 3 hours. I think I may get antsy if I have to stay in the bed so I just wanted to haves idea of Ehat to expect. Thanks for all the experiences. I don't plan to get a epidural only if I really can't do it. But I still like to know what to expect.

You CAN do it natural. Don't think the worst or it'll happen. I KNOW you can do and it and you WILL do it   I didn't even have my son in a hospital so no choice of an epidural for me even if I did want one. It's better to get up and move around to get things moving along and you can't do that with an epidural.

I had an epi with all 3 of mine but if I knew that I would be having horrible back pain for the rest of my life...I wouldn't have had the 1st one the begin with!! My lower back is screwed up! I was in a bad car accident before I had kids so that may contribute to the cause but I wish I could've made a different decision now. Try it natural..I wish I did!
