I think it's sorta like being pro choice. You may never personally want to use your choice to have an abortion but you support others rights to use the choice how they see fit.
I can't say that I would ever fly a flag upside down bc it bugs me a bit personally but, it's not about what I would do. Soldiers die so that we have the right to fly the flag, however we see fit. So that we have the right to protest out govt however we see fit.

Eh, don't know if the metaphor works for y'all but, it works in my head.

It's not against the flag code because it is a proper way to fly the flag in times of distress. I'm not angry over that because our flag code actually does not prohibit it. It does, however, prohibit burning and smurffing on our flag, but I haven't personally seen cries of outrage over that happening.

You're right. When Bush won, people were burning the flag.

Oh, and smurffing on it.

Sometimes both at the same time.

Did you hear about the terrorist that died during the protest from flag fumes? Take that, terrorists!

I can guarantee that democrats were upset when that happened. I'm sure the interwebs were all a buzz over it as well

They fought for this country and if this is how they chose to protest, then fine. I don't see that it's is disrespecting the flag and the history of this country, but showing their disgust with the current direction. If anyone has a right to say so.. They sure do.

okay, this is touchy.

it means distress but in a sense that it isnt distressful, its disrespect.

I honestly think that yes it is a freedom you have, but dont get upset with the results of other people's rights to react to it.

Of all people, they have the most right. They actually put their lives on the line allowing them to do it. Not like some pussy who uses the freedom they fought for to be douches.

I agree with this.

But I don't think I could ever do it myself. As a Veteran, I feel like I should respect that flag since I fought for it.

Well, our country is in major distress. I know a lot of people who have been flying their flags this way.
