Low lying placenta
posted 12th Nov
My little sister was told at her prenatal appointment today that she has a low lying placenta..her OB/GYN said he wants to do a follow-up ultrasound next month when she enters her 3rd trimester to see where the placenta is..she is freaking out that the doctor knows something is severely wrong and he won't tell her..she feels like she needs to be on bed rest but doesn't want to leave her job because she is the only source of income for herself and her unborn child along with her baby daddy...we took a video of her ultrasound because I offered to take pictures and make a DVD for her to look back on later on..here is the video..at 0:58-1:17 is where we "think" is the low lying placenta..the ultrasound technician labeled it as "LUS" and I don't know what it means..does anyone know?

Did the dr tell her she is to be on bed rest? If he's making her wait a whole month, I doubt it's something to get so worked up about

I had an anterior low lying placenta which later moved as I got further along. If she feels normal otherwise she doesn't need to be on bed rest. The doctor would have told her if she needed to be.

Pretty sure LUS means Lower Uterine Segment.
You don't need to be on bedrest for a low lying placenta.

She is over reacting. If the Dr. didn't tell her to be on bed rest, there is no reason to put herself there. I had partial previa in the beginning of both pregnancies and it moved up both times.
