The fit test is supposed to be hard. You're supposed to "suck" the first time and improve your numbers by the end.
If/when you do start Insanity, just take your time and go at your own pace. I would recommend staying on month one as long as you need, before progressing to month two, because the month two workouts are SIGNIFICANTLY harder than month one.
