Holiday spending?

posted 12th Nov
How much did/are you spending on your kids for the holidays? And how old are they?
What did they get for that amount?

We spent about $340 on the twins winter clothes.
$10 on their giant coloring books.
$45 on baby sleepers/onsies/pants/blankets for the baby
$200 on the twins LeapPad2s

Twins are 4, and the baby is due in Feb.

I also want to get them stompeez, dream lights, and more pajamas but I feel like we've done enough already. I don't want them to think its all about presents.

I alwasy use my tax money to but them spring clothes. But since the baby is due around that time I think he'll get the bulk of it. Plus we just bought a house.

Last year when they were 3, I think I spent about $250 on them. But DS is in Big Kids clothes now and his jeans cost as much as mine! I put their stuff on layaway so I don't have to hide it in the house lol

My budget for both kids (ages 7 and 4) is around $300. We can't afford much more than that and there's really nothing they NEED. Both will get Legos, 2 new PJs, new socks, DS will get new underwear, DS is getting a DS and carrying case and DD may also get a DS and carrying case. She's also getting a castle for GE princesses

Thats what I'm trying to do. The LeapPads are their big presents, coloring books are the small ones. But the dream lights are $30 and that just seems ridiculous for a stuffed animal with a light in it lol
I also let them open up PJs on Christmas Eve. My kids LOVE Pjs lol

We got our oldest daughter a wooden train track set on sale for $30.00. She also has a birthday in December for that she will go to build a bear. For our three month old we will be spending maybe $5.00 for a small wooden toy she can grip and chew on.

We don't really spend a lot of money on our kids for the holidays. We would rather keep paying off our student loans and save up for a house. Plus we aren't very materialistic here *shrugs.* Different strokes for different folks.

We are on a budget also, thats why I like layaway so much. I can just take a bit out of my check every week. My grandma is getting their underwear and socks and stuff, she loves that kind of stuff lol

We're spending about $500 on Rue this year,(She's 5) and about $420 or so on Zoe...(She's 3)But that's not exactly phrased right. One set of great grandparents and one set of grandparents gave us money to get the girls something for Christmas...So that accounts for about $280 of each of the totals. We personally are spending about $220 on Rue and $140 on Zoe.

We have no idea what we're getting for Zoe, but we got Rue an American Girl doll with two sets of matching clothing. (The sets come with an outfit for your daughter and one for her doll) I think that came to about $270 or so of her Christmas money...We always get the girls pajamas and a couple of outfits, at least 3 books, ect.

I understand. Luckily we have no loans and we just bought our house. I don't think we are materialistic as the majority of their gifts are winter clothes that they need. Their LeapPads are because of the new baby, I don't want them to feel like he is taking all the attention away, so they get a "big kid toy" that he can't have. But I agree peaople think differently.
