Where I live, if the holiday falls on a weekend, you get the next business day off.

If veteren's day falls on a weekend you get the closest business day off. Like if it's on a Saturday, we get friday off, and if it's on a Sunday, we get that Monday off. It's been like that for as long as I've been in school.
