Would you take your 5 year old with you to donate blood?

Obviously not to have her donate because she's WAY to young.. lol
Just for her to see me donate because I think it might be a good thing for her to experience but DH thinks it might scare her.

I've done it a few times already so I know I'm not a fainter, I always feel fine after so I'm not worried about that.

I don't have a 5 year old, he's 2, but I wouldn't take him only because he's been hospitalized and had blood work done a handful of times. Any vision of a needle makes him flip his smurf.

Awww   poor little guy.

DD hasn't ever had blood drawn or been hospitalized. She doesn't really have a fear of needles but then she never really gets them..

I would take her! This may sound weird but I take my 2yo w me when I have to get bloodwork done (I just had a miscarriage on 10/17/2012 so I've had to have it done every week for the past month and a couple times the first 2 weeks!!!) He watches and just says "mommy ouch" lol so yea anyways I would take a 5yo to give blood, I think its awesome to give kids experiences like this so they arent so scared themselves

My 4 year old went with me when I got bloodwork done at the doctor, and she didn't look until the nurse had the thing in. She looked for a second, asked if it hurt and I told her no and she said ok and covered her eyes again. She never mentioned it after it was done.

DH thinks its stupid to begin with so he pulled out a bunch of excuses as to why she shouldn't go.
So I was curious if others took their LOs with them.
