Quoting Mann Makin' Mama[BBM]:" I don't have a 5 year old, he's 2, but I wouldn't take him only because he's been hospitalized and had blood work done a handful of times. Any vision of a needle makes him flip his smurf."
Awww poor little guy.
DD hasn't ever had blood drawn or been hospitalized. She doesn't really have a fear of needles but then she never really gets them..
I would take her! This may sound weird but I take my 2yo w me when I have to get bloodwork done (I just had a miscarriage on 10/17/2012 so I've had to have it done every week for the past month and a couple times the first 2 weeks!!!) He watches and just says "mommy ouch" lol so yea anyways I would take a 5yo to give blood, I think its awesome to give kids experiences like this so they arent so scared themselves
My 4 year old went with me when I got bloodwork done at the doctor, and she didn't look until the nurse had the thing in. She looked for a second, asked if it hurt and I told her no and she said ok and covered her eyes again. She never mentioned it after it was done.
