I wanna try it with no pain medication. Our bodies were meant to do this... I should be able to do it

*fingers crossed*

Honestly I would be happy to be able to make it to the 28-30 week range but if that doesnt happen then it wasnt meant to be in the end. But for me normally Im a very impulsive person but when it comes to things like this I tend to over analyze things and my mind always goes to the worst what ifs. So for me I rather deal with my fears and know my baby will be born somewhere where they can get help right away then risk something happening. I kid you not if it wasnt for the fact that SO was home when if finally "went into labor" my daughter would have been born at home . I was in active labor with her (mind you she was my first pregnancy) for 4 hours then I had 3 contractions and pushed once and she fell out on the bed. The nurse didnt even have time to catch her thats how quick she came out. LOL my doctor was actually in the hospital at the time running through the hallways to get to my room and even with all of that he didnt get there in time to deliver me.

Oh definitely. It's all up to preference   I'm hoping I can find a doctor who is a little more hands off, and will follow my birth plan (unless it's an emergency). And s/he will have to consult with SO and I before making any decisions.

That is all wishful thinking, though...

That's kind of how I feel... I feel like it's beneficial for me to have multiple different experiences. We'll see... hubby is pushing for the birth center but said ultimately its my decision. If I lived closer to a hospital it would be way easier to decide.. especially because if I changed my mind in labor I'd have time to get things together and go to the birth center instead. But for me it's one or the other. We'll see! lol Even though there's literally a 1-2% chance of needing a transfer, I feel like I still have to plan around that... sort of. I'll update with what the MW says I should do.

And you are so amazing for looking at the silver lining the way you do!! You've turned your rough experience into a beautiful one just in the way you've chosen to think about it. What a strong mama you are!!!

You can do it girly!! Our bodies were so made for this!!! I loved my natural birth. It was life changing and so eye opening to me. I got a beautiful gift out of it, and felt so empowered and strong. Don't get me wrong, although my son's birth was difficult and traumatic, it was still beautiful and I still have fond memories of it. It was perfect in that I had him and he's a handsome little man now!

Yeah see when I went into labor I was very clear about not wanting any kind of pain meds. When they finally told me Caydence was going to be born and they couldnt stop it I freaked out a bit. I was crying hysterically and the nurse I guess for whatever reason thought I was crying because I was in pain and just started pumping me full of IV pain meds which just pissed me off. Im not mad at her for doing it because I know she was only trying to help but Im mad that the choice to have a drug free labor was taken from me without so much as a heads up. But my OBGYN now has a midwife in her office so next time Im going to see if I cant have the midwife deliver me at the hospital because I know a midwife is more pron to fight for you to have a drug free delivery if that what you want that and midwifes are more hands on when it comes to the actual labor process then a doctor is.

I so remember baby stalking you! lol Your birth story was amazing. It's stories like that which make me want to home birth. I was at Joey Robert's home birth... not sure if you remember her or not from the natural birth thread. Anyway, it was an amazing experience to be there to support her.

She is my fb buddy

HB was so easy peasy. Knowing how much more comfortable home was vs hospital is enough for me. I had originally looked into birthing centers but the thought of a car ride a few hours after delivering wasn't appealing.

Well thank you that is nice to hear, today one of my best friends lost her baby. She was 2 months old and never got to be at the breast. she was on full life support the whole 2 months. I am so sad for her and it has reminded me just how blessed I am.

I was injured a while ago and broke my back and had to go through a lot to be able to be the person I am now . All these little things are life and we all have to get through them and remember to be thankful for what we do have.

So even if you don't get the birth you want at least you get a baby you will love. I hope you get pregant soon!

even the most prepared home birth midwife is NOT going to have all the emergency equipment she might need.

I wouldn't risk a home birth if you paid me. I considered a center birth, I learned I need much more assistance than they can provide me. With out an epidural my body will eventually reject labor and start working against me. SO, if your up to the most horrible pain you'll ever experience, knock yourself out!

Aww are you trying again? Congrats!

I don't really know much about home birthing but for me the choice will always be hospital. Especially after my first.

You just don't know what your birth is going to be like. Sophia ended up being an emergency c-section where we discovered her heart had slowed and she was facing the wrong way etc.. if I had opted for a home birth I would of been far away from the care I needed and would of needed to be transported already in a scared and fragile state.

I just think whilst all the comforts of a home birth are there.. it isnt like a hospital is the worse place in the world either. xx

I LOVED my homebirth!! Basically they are the same, except being attached to the hospital. My story is on my page, under Reid.

Mines short and sweet. My mother in law delivered all of her babies at home, it was obviously a very open discussion in my case. I did not have any negative opinion over home birth simply because in my mind, if you don't have complications with your pregnancy then why not it could be a beautiful experience and even more intimate in the privacy of my own home. Well I was about 4 months pregnant with my son, (my mom works in the medical field) and a couple of her Dr friends were expecting, they did all the prenatal care, her pregnancy was perfect, so they figured "we are both drs lets do it at home together" the got a midwife to help her husband. She ended up hemorrhaging and they lost their baby. This proved to me that no matter how perfect of a pregnancy you have you never know what can happen in those last final moments and I wanted to have all of the medical help available to me right there incase my baby or I needed it. Since then I don't think I would ever be able to consciously be able to tell someone that home birth is the best decision if you have the option to have your baby in a birthing facility. I had my son at our local birthing center and they respected my families privacy and simply were amazing.
PS-every pregnancy is different and every mother feels different. I'm am educated on both behaves and am not looking for some debate over the subject, just simply expressing my opinion.
