I don't think I am being denied private insurance, just medicaid. They sent me a notice about private insurance and SSDI.

No. I don't see what the point is if I have been denied twice. My doctor was even concerned they denied me with all my health issues I have.

Have you applied from private insurance? You'd know if you have.
They more than likely want you attempt to seek private insurance first. With state budgets being so crappy (most of them) they're trying to get people off of state funding who do not need it. Not saying you don't, but it's a possibility. There are thousands who can afford insurance, yet seek state help.

My friend just went to the hospital and asked to be directed to someone who handles billing or billing assistance for people without insurance. they consider it a medical discount plan here, but basically it is an insurance, because you have copays and maximum charged amounts set...

Many places are set up with some form of income assistance. When I was sick summer of '11, we went 2 weeks without insurance because my husband switched jobs. I ended up in the hospital during that two week time frame oddly enough and ended up with Lung Surgery. I owed $70k to the hospital. I applied for the charity program. I was at a catholic hospital so the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth paid the entire bill for me! It is worth you looking into!

I haven't seeked private insurance. Do I have to have an income to qualify. My SO is the only one working right now. I should be working by January.

You can get your child on CHIPS. There is also UPP and PCN to look into for yourself.

My son was able to get accepted through Medicaid & he's also accepted through my SO insurance.
