Perineal tear, burst stitches

I gave birth to my daughter October 25th 2012 and ended up with a second degree tear. I was released 12 hours after delivery to go be with my daughter who was transferred to another hospital. We were there for a week and it felt like my stitches were doing okay.. Got home and a week later it started to feel a little irritated so I looked down there and was horrified! Most of my stitches had burst leaving only one right in the middle.. I made an appt with my doctor who decided to leave it open and let it heal on its own. Has anyone else experienced this? How long will it take to heal?

Damn. I had a horrible tear all the way to my smurf. The stitches were too many to count it looked like a barbed wire fence lol. But they never burst. I'd be having a heart attack

oh smurf sounds not so good, i had a second degree tear got stitched up fine could sit properly second day in, i guess they healed up cos at about 6 wks i could no longer feel em. i was not game enough to take a look.

The thought of what you're going through makes me want to hurl. I had a 2nd degree tear too, lots of stitches but everything stayed how it should. I felt uncomfortable down yonder for the full 6 weeks. Everything just felt strange and tight. I can only imagine if the stitches had torn. Oh my god. Did they suggest anything to help the healing process?

Nothing at all.. I go back on the 30th of this month for a check up but other than that he just said to leave it alone.. Its pretty frightening! He didn't put in that many stitches to begin with from the looks of it. Was hoping someone else had experienced this
