I didn't edit my post at all. I never once came out and said to her 'I'm sorry your dad lied to you, nor would I EVER do that!'

You don't think your 6 year old is smart enough to realize daddy lied to her when you said they didn't close the parade because you went, & they NEVER would? Stop acting so innocent. What you said was an attack on the father & you know it.

Case and point. It doesn't matter if it was deliberate or not. The act was there and it happened.

I know I am late to this but anyways. I would have done and said the same thing that you did.

My dd's dad was always lying to her about tons of stuff for years. I was always covering his ass too. My dd grew to hate me for helping her dad lie to her, even for the little things.
If I could go back I would have told her every single lie he told her every single promise he made to her and would have been up front about it.

Now that she is older she completely blows him off and refuses to speak to him when she goes to his house. She talks to her half siblings and his new gf and will not say a word to him at all. And I honestly dont care if she does not care if she ignores him at all. I ignore him myself and only talk to his gf and his other family (mom dad etc)

I started telling my dd when her dad was lying to her when she turned 7.

I think apologizing for her not being able to go would have been enough. I would have had a little chat with her father and let him know that you didn't out him this time, but to never put you in a position to LIE for him again because you won't do it.

Yep I agree that was a little harsh. The only one who gets hurt is your daughter.
