Wtf happened? Vent.

posted 11th Nov
My son turned one on Thursday. Starting Wednesday he stopped going to sleep on his own. We sit in the rocking chair in his room while I sing to him, he drinks his bottle, then I lay him in bed. He'll fall asleep on his own. Now he screams and screams. I have to hover over his bed for him to fall asleep. He jumps up every couple minutes to see if I'm still there. If I'm not, he'll lose his smurf. I've tried letting him cry but it goes on forever.

He wakes up once a night and we do the same routine. Hes stopped letting me leave then as well.

Tonight I sat in the chair and played on my iPad while he sat in his crib. He was fine with that and went to sleep.

Wtf happened to my baby!? This is more of a vent, I know you can't read his mind. Ugh. He better go back to his normal routine soon!

Maybe he's scared of abandonment since you let him cry forever .....Bed time isn't peaceful anymore? Just guessing here not trying to be rude...Maybe he's teething or a growth spurt? Hope the phase passes soon!

My son has thrown his good sleep routine out the window too. He did this back in July. It is driving me completly crazy. Nap time is a HUGE battle. He might take one per day if I'm lucky and then only for about an hour. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Holy smurf...it's like our kids are twins again!
Scarlett started doing this about a week or so ago. I'd lay her down at naptime and she was just playing in her bed for a little while and then fuss, so I'd go lay her back down and she lost it...screaming like I was killing her. She's been doing that at both naptimes and bedtime for the last week. It's driving me crazy! Bedtime is the worst with the crying/screaming. At naptime at least she usually will play in her bed for a while. The only thing I can figure is a separation thing. Because when I go in and pick her up and rock/snuggle...she's happy as can be. And almost goes to sleep on me, but the second I put her in the crib...all hell breaks loose.
I'm hoping it's just a phase :-(

So weird!! He'll go to sleep if I pick him up too. I don't get it!!

Mama Lizzy - could be, but we've used CIO in the past. That's how we got into such a great routine. It just doesn't make sense that he all of a sudden refuses to go to sleep n his own.

I'm thinking maybe something scared him? A nightmare or seeing something that he thinks about?

Wouldn't it just be so much easier if they could talk!?!
Although to be honest it doesn't really help that much with my oldest all the time. I will say though...today she has been some better, tonight is the first night in like 10 days that she hasn't cried at bedtime. I did rock and snuggle a little longer though than normal since she's been so fussy.

Hopefully it'll be over in a few more days--maybe like a week or 2.
