Potty Training...

posted 11th Nov
I have a 9m and know its a little early...hes just so damn attached to my hip its not funny...I love it but going pee has become a group effort LOL he has to be in the bathroom with me so i bought him a potty to sit on when I go and i take his diaper off and sit him on it (sometimes he actually just sits there) ...I'm not expecting anything from him just feel bad sitting him on the floor and hoped that maybe getting him a potty would at least let me put him down for a second (that part is working) but if you have any tips or advice that would be greatly appreciated!

As of now i can almost guess before he pees too cause he always starts grabbing at the front of his diaper when he pees or loudly grunting if he has to poop...

Even attempting to potty train a 9 month old is completely silly IMO.
Most boys are not PT until 3 YEARS.
A 9 month old is supposed to be attached at the hip.. he's an infant. Enjoy it, it doesn't last for long

OOO don't get me wrong I DO love it more than anything, I co-sleep, and im a SAHM and love every min, i just hate putting him down on the bathroom floor, and if he is already showing signs before he goes and sitting on the potty ...I just figured if there was anything else i should know that would be useful, i know a few of my friends had their boys potty trained by 2 and thought wow that would be great! Im not hoping for anything just sorta preparing myself i guess

I did the same thing for DD when she was 11 months. She was obsessed with the bathroom so I bought her a potty to show her, THIS is why we come in this room and if you arent going to sit, you arent going to stay. She stayed away from the room and now sits on her potty once in a while. She's pee'd on it twice by sheer luck. I just took her diaper off and sat her down and she went. I threw a huge excited fuss when she pee'd to show her it was a GOOD thing. Hopefully that'll be incentive for future attempts.

I know someone that did this and had their son potty trained by his first birthday, so I wouldn't say it was impossible!

Lol yeah I can understand that.. But I mean as long as you clean your bathroom floor on a regular basis he'll be okay to sit straight on it. Of course I wouldn't sit him on the floor out in public, gross, but your own home should be okay.
There's not really much to potty training, taking them to the bathroom every so often, but the biggest thing is to let the child be ready on their own terms, not when YOU want them trained. KWIM

Idk. A lot of people like doing EC, if you actually want to PT though I'd wait. Starting too early can actually cause them to regress. To actually PT they need to be able to take themselves and get on the potty and all of that.

He has only peed once and i assume by sheer luck too, and i got soo excited i may have scared him i started clapping and nearly jumped off the toilet saying hooray lol ....he still likes it tho cause he loves being naked! if he doesnt sit he pushes the toilet around the bathroom and i at least get to pee!

I clean but the cat box is in there so i still think its gross LOL! LIke i said i know it is really early and i have no expectations, just sorta trying to keep him busy while i pee and maybe if there are any tips or tricks give them a whirl and hope for the best! He is walking and does a few signs and says mama dadda hi and dog...so who knows

I have to agree with this, my friend just got her son potty trained and he just turned 4 years old.

I like feeling I understand his "cues" hes sending out, he hates having wet diapers, he gets very angry with them and attempts to pull them off..and then tries running away at diaper changes lol he tells me when hes hungry or wants milk by signing so we are working on the potty sign..any time i see him grabbing at himself i show him the potty sign and bring him in the bathroom...sorta like the repetition of everything, i mean usually by the time we get there he has gone and we change the diaper but i like him to understand there is a process and i don't think hes too young to at least start picking up on things...He isn't ready im sure to be "potty trained" but if there is something that makes it easier in the long run like knowing where the potty is thats something im down for trying!

Ya. I don't know how I would go about ECing an older baby because we started from birth.

www.diaperfreebaby.org I'm sure they have tips!
