1st off spanking is punishment, not discipline there's a difference. And even if the parents spank, NO one else should do it nor should any parent ever feel comfortable or request anyone (even a grandmother) to spank a child that is not thier own. It's out of line for you to ask her to do that, YOU need to come up with an alternative discipline for the grandmother to do with your kids that both of you are ok with. I choose to stay home with my kids because my MIL was going to be my sitter and I knew she wouldn't respect my wishes and would do things her way (that just happened to include spanking my 1 year old) so I quit, I was lucky and I was able to do that. It wasn't worth the trouble, if I'd hire someone I'd expect them to do as I ask and fire them if they didn't. But you have to be reasonable too, maybe she's overwhelmed and that's why she isn't doing everything you ask. But really you cannot expect anyone else to put their hands on your kids

I didn't say you were stupid, what you are saying is completely stupid. You asked for advice, people have given you advice and their opinions, but you go ahead and just pretty much tell everyone that they are wrong. . . So then what was the point of you posting?

Also, when I replied back, 'seriously' to you asking me if I was 'seriosuly' calling you stupid.... I was correcting a spelling error. Ironic.

And no one is judging. If you don't like the way that your children are being taken care of then quit your job, because honestly no one does it better than Mom. No one will ever do it 100% your way, paid or not. And I really doubt anyone will be comfortable spanking your child even if they spank their own.

I get my panties twisted up my ass too about how my children are taken care of by other people so my SO and I do opposite shifts. It's better than fighting with family and burning bridges because they don't feel like following a routine such as nap time.
