As an over weight woman who has been her entire life, and the mother of an overweight child, I can tell you it is not because we are all fat disgusting slobs who eat junk all the time. The only thing I drink is water, once a week I might have tea. No soda in my house, no chips, no unhealthy junk food. No sweets, they make me sick. It has always been this way. We've had tests done, everything you can imagine. We've done special diabetic diets, liquid diets, everything you can think of. They have no idea why our weight is so bad, but it is not because of our lifestyle. So try not to just assume they are irresponsible gross bastards. Unless they are at mcdonalds or kfc or something, cause I hate seeing that smurf. You are responsible for your children, you shouldn't teach them terrible habits like that, it's a lifestyle and it is very hard to change. It's not a good way to start them off   That I can agree with as being totally inappropriate & bad parenting.

Also, the carts thing piss me off. YOU NEED THE EXERCISE GET UP lol I have some disabilities that make it excruciatingly painful to walk sometimes. But I'll be damned if I will be seen as a fat chick in one of those carts. I have too much pride and I will power through the pain to avoid it >.< I am sure some may actually need it like me, but some you can just tell are being lazy asses. (oh what's that, nothing but ramen and tv dinners in your cart, maybe try a salad! It is so much better for you and tastes better too!)

Thats ok, I didnt think you would say anything or put anyone down so I apologise if thats what it sounded like I was implying. I just wanted to explain how my situation is (but reversed lol)and how easy it is for people to misjudge a parent based on the child and parents body/looks.
I do agree that unhealthy eating habits do tend to be passed down.
I have also seen alot of obesity in young children and yes it is sad, thinking about there quality of life and knowing what school will be like for them isnt a nice thought .
More than often it is the parents fault for allowing them to eat crappy food, and not getting them help early on in life. I guess its a case of monkey see monkey do with some people.

Some old people don't need the carts either. I remember when I was a teen I blew out my knee and this woman and her daughter threw a fit that her senior citizen mother would have to walk at the grocery store because I was on the motorized cart. The manager had the nerve to ask me to get up and let her use it because I had crutches. I ended up getting the regular wheel chair and the motorized cart ended up not working. That bitch had to walk.

Yea it's hard to know everyone's situation and it's really hard not to judge. There was a little kid at the inflatable bounce house place that I take DS to that was so skinny it was disturbing to look at; you could tell he was perfectly fine but my first thought was "My god do you not feed that child?" i'm sure he's fed completely fine it was just shocking to see. I would hate to have people come up to me and question my parenting or why my child looks a certain way  

I guess the origination of this post comes from a girl on my facebook. She is very large and is so because she eats smurf all day long. I know this because she brags about it. I guess she coupons and likes to brag about the 3 cases of soda etc that she gets for free for her three year old and herself. Her son is gigantic too and it breaks my heart because I know he's that way because of her. She is pregnant again and has problem after problem after problem all associated with her weight.

Were you present when concentrations camps and the famine were around. Um I don't think so.. So where are your getting your facts from? So what your trying to say is starve yourself and work until you can barely stand anymore and all will be good!? That is a PERFECT way of thinking.

Probably because we haven't been consuming these foods for decades causing our bodies and hormone levels to go out of whack. Our food wasn't overly processed and full of insecticides and hormones like they are today.

you can realize that people ONLY get fat when they eat too much
and
as soon as you stop eating too much, you aren't fat anymore.
it's really VERY simple. calories are meant to be used in activity
not enough activity + too many calories = fat fat fat
