re: If you work on your feet

When I was working 10+ hours, 6 days a week as a veterinary technician, I swore by my crocs! Haha seriously though... I tried everything to help my achy back and feet, and crocs were the best!

I'm a Certified Shoe Fit Specialist, I was trained by a Podiatrist for two years and have been selling shoes for close to 6 years now. The top three I recommend are New Balance, Asics, and Brooks. New Balance is a tough support, only get a 600 or above series but the best ones are the ones that contain the Patented Rollbar feature. It eliminates pronation and supenation of the foot which causes 90 percent of foot pain. Asics are as good or better than New Balances, these are the ones for me. They are a very soft support and have great arches. Also, they have tough shanks that help with pronation. Brooks are an inbetween, these seem to vary greatly person to person. Some people love them while others hate them. Depends on the foot. Also, have your foot professionally fitted.

I have flat wide feet so I'm guessing the Asics probably wouldn't be good for me if they have a big arch ?

Oh wait what do you mean by arch ?

You have three arches on the bottom of your foot, the highest typically being the medial longitudinal arch, which is the one everyone knows on the inner middle of your foot. Flat footed people typically need arch more so than anyone else, considering their foot is not pressing correctly in compliance with how it was created to stand. You don't need a really high arch, you just need good support in the right places, even in your arch. if you are looking to walk in a buy from a department store or such, you wont really be concerned with this considering most department store level shoes have little to no arch. If they are wide, consider a brand that commonly makes wides like New Balance. If you don't have much money but need something okay, try a Propet. I now work with Penneys and wouldn't mind a bit to show you a few to start out with.
