re: Waiting for conspiracy theories about the indiana explosion

Two of the more realistic conspiracy theories have it being either an outright accident or an insurance scam. Allegedly, the blast is consistent with those caused by a gas leak within the house. The house was for sale by owner, and had been empty for a little while according to some neighbors.

The accident version says that the heat had been left on, filling up the house with natural gas. As the temperatures haven't been cold enough for it to kick on, the gas had plenty of time to accumulate. Since it was a newer house, it was airtight enough to keep the gas in without the neighbors smelling it. Last night, temperatures finally dropped enough for the heat to kick on. There was a spark and then BOOM.

On the other hand, the insurance scam version says the owner intentionally left the gas on when they vacated, most likely a burner on the stove. Since the house was for sale by owner, a realtor wouldn't be checking it regularly to smell the gas. House filled up with gas, there was a spark and then BOOM.

They're still not even sure it was a gas leak though. They said it could take up to 2 weeks before they're done investigating.

I guess I just don't see how we felt it here...very strange indeed.

I understand the official investigation will take weeks. I was reading a thread on Reddit that was posted by a neighbor of one of the houses that exploded. He and some friends were home at the time of the blast, though on the other side of the house. Windows were obliterated and doors blown inward. His picture looks like a war zone. He was evacuated to the school 1/4 mile away and debris was still raining down. People miles away reported hearing/feeling the blast, houses 3 blocks away had their garage doors blown off.

An official who works for the gas company was at the scene last night and he said in that thread that it definitely looks like a gas explosion, but that is of course speculation until the investigation is compete. A chemical engineer chimed in and said the same thing. A firefighter who responded to the blaze also said he would guess gas leak inside the house.

Matter of fact, the firefighter mentioned above is the first one who voiced the insurance scam possibility.

I know people felt it... I did i live 7-8 moles away. My entire family was woken up.I have a friend that had glass blown in on him, his wife and baby. Their house is missing an entire wall and will likely need to be torn down. If def looks like a war zone.
I'm not saying it wasn't a gas explosion but its just too funny. The gas company said no signs and it would take weeks for them to figure it out, not hours. Also, the burn pattern is linear, you'd think it would be coming off of the streets if it were the gas line. I'm anxious to see it play out.

Did anything else come up on this story? Do they know what it was?

Absolutely, it looks nothing like a gas line explosion. Main gas lines like that usually run under the sidewalks/edge of the streets, and this definitely looks like it originated inside one of the houses. Lots more houses would've been involved as well, since they would have all connected to that main line.

That said, OP asked for 'conspiracy theories' and I delievered two that actually sound plausible. It's not a plane crash, there is no wreckage. An exploding meth lab wouldn't do that kind of widespread damage. All explanations at this point are conjectures, but a gas leak INSIDE the house (whether intentional or not, insurance scam vs. tragic accident) would make sense. An official answer will take weeks, I'm just repeating the guesses of people who were there last night.

Still no definite word. Another theory is that it is our own government. Look up
Drone strike Indianapolis explosion. Scary stuff.

There's mention of that dude from the CIA in the stories...the one from the other thread.

So far no more deaths. I heard there I'd one missing but the news says no. Supposedly (don't know if it's true) there was a gag order issued.

gag order??? wth??hmmm..something is fishy..thing is..Do you think you will hear the truth? Or will there be a cover up? I never was one to believe in conspiracy but lately I have been opening my eyes to everything!

I just don't know. I think there could be a cover up.
I just find it funny the way the burn pattern is, no crater, etc.
Then the gas company said that there was no sign of a gas leak and that it would take weeks to find out the cause. Then Homeland Security said that all signs point to a gas leak only hours later, not weeks. Why wouldn't the gas company be able to tell when that is their specialty? Why didn't THEY announce it was a gas leak, not Homeland?
Also, I understand gas explosions can be HEARD a ways away, but around 30 MILES away? We didn't only hear it, but we FELT it. It shook our house 8 miles away. They heard/felt it at my grandma's, my aunt's, my friend's and in other counties. It just doesn't make sense. When I found out that nothing crashed by the house, I seriously thought it was an earthquake. That's how loud it was and shaky.
