My daughter has a couple thousand in her college fund. If she getsca full ride we'll buy her a nice car. There should be around 10k by the time she graduates highschool.

Not trying to be nosy, but how is their college covered?

They sound like super lucky kids to already have that taken care of.

We save our change for ourselves, but we take it to our bank and they run it through their machine for free since we have accounts there

Oh, I didn't even think of a car!! My parents bought my first car too, I would like to do that for LO. (Mine was only $1000, so, not too spoiled, haha)

Ok, I have two banks now, I'll see if any of them do that!

This is what I mean. I will have a list of "extra" chores that she can do to earn money, but she'll have to do her regular everyday chores as well

I'll probably start in kindergarten or 1st grade

My husbands GI bill and the multiple rental properties we own that will be sold to pay for tuition when the equity has been established.

My husband and I have different views, my first car was given to me and he had to work for his first car so I'm not sure what we will settle in but if their college is taken care of and we have $$ specifically sved for our kids I'm not sure what else we would spend it on...I don't want to hand over a ton of $$ to an immature teen either. It's so hard to decide! That's why I want it set up that if they choose not to go to college they won't just be handed their $, they will have to wait until they are 30 for it

Yep. I'm not paying for what has to be done as a member of the family. We started it "early" at 4 years old, because my daughter got mad one day and decided to throw her lamp and break it.   We had a big talk about anger, how to handle it, etc. She had to earn the money for a new lamp (14$ for the lamp she wanted.) She learned so much, and the fact that it was HER idea to earn the money to ride the train made me realize that she's started to "get" the concept...even at 4!

Cora doesn't quite get the idea yet. I'm working on it with her though

Your kids are very lucky (:

My parents didn't pay a dime for college. School loans for me. And they never bought me a car. Did it myself.
I plan on saving for my kiddos.
Give them a little better than what I had.

I understand having to work to buy your car, but that difficult when you can't really get a real job till 16 and it's easier to get one when you have a car. I started my first "real" job on my 16th birthday, lol. My parents bought my car for me and gave me $20 every two weeks for gas because our highschool was in the next town over. Any extra gas I had to pay for and my cell phone (they were just starting to be used more, lol) I paid for. I would like to do the same for my LO/LO's.

We started a little late but, we put in something when we have it. Normally its 50 dollars every paycheck too but, we've been using that to buy Christmas presents here and there for now.

Same here. I paid for my college and I bought my car. I think I'll have my kids get school loans and if they follow through and finish college then I will pay their loans off for them. I'd hate to pay for their college abs have them be partying and failing classes!
