What do you consider "good" grades?

Would your answer be different depending on how hard the child is trying?
What if the child was not turning in homework, or turning it in late or answering little to no answers on homework and or tests and quizzes?

A's & B's, anything lower and I would think they need to work on their school work a little harder. That was always expected from me and all my siblings growing up, I'll expect the same from my children

Absolutely depends on how hard the child is trying. Not all children are A students...as long as they're working hard and doing the best they can, that's good enough IMO.

I will push my child for A's. However anything less than that would be based on if they were actually trying or not.

B''s to A's only.

Does not matter how hard they work, if its a B or higher its good grades, if its under that then no its not good grades, not for my kids.

Ok so I wouldn't be wrong for telling him he needs to bring his grades up (lowest is currently a C-) since I can see online all his grades for each item and he is consistently late or not turning things in at all and some things he has turned in blank or just a few questions answered?

He has been grounded for about a month now because he is doing this and I get the feeling from others that maybe I am pushing him too hard but I just know that he is not truly doing his best since he isn't turning things in etc.

This.
I've had some pretty smurffy teachers too so I would try to look into that to make sure the teacher was actually doing his/her job. If it was bad enough I would try to get my kid switched to a different teacher.

No way. Don't back down when it comes to grades because I wish my parents did a better job of encouraging me.

I don't have children yet but I know what my parents did worked for me. I think my mom was very aware what I was capable off and if she truly thought I was doing my best then she was ok with A's and B's. Even a C once in awhile did not get me in trouble. So good grades are what you think your child is capable of. I would never be ok with D's of F's becuase if your kids are getting those kind of grades and really are trying then they may need to go to the alternative class and if my child needs to be in alternative that is fine to but I'm gonna make dang sure it's for a true learning disability not because he is lazy and does not want to do his homework or go to class or something like that. Sorry obviously just my personal opinion but it was a big deal in my house with my 4 other sisters to compete with.

I strive for my DDs to get As, but I will settle for Bs here and there. I don't want to push her so hard to get As that she losses interest in school like many kids do because they feel like they disappoint their parents if they get anything else. Anything less than a B and it's a calling of laziness or struggle so we regroup and refocus on that subject matter to ensure she understands it.

How old is he?
When I rarely did actually get a C on my report card my parents didn't punish me. I feel like that took a lot of stress off my shoulders but I still wanted to do good for MYSELF.
But if I was half-assing it, I would have been in trouble.

11, he did have an F when I first checked his grades online. The school updates it daily so I have been monitoring it and he did bring the F up but there is still a lot of late and not done or not turned in homework.
