In the case of a fire...another person needs to be able to access her or she needs to be able to be told how to get out herself. A taller gate...she can see out of and in an emergency can be directed how to get out of it herself.

It wakes us up if he opens his door, but doesn't wake our daughter up and she's right across the tiny hallway. You could put the actual alarm part right by your bed so you would hear it.

thats the best pic I could find. in case of a fire that lock is easier to open than to take down a gate.

I wouldn't do that. Just get an alarmed child safety gate. Buy 2 and put one on the top of the other. It will be too tall for her to climb but if she opens the bottom gate door, the alarm will go off. That with a visual monitor...and a sleep routine will be plenty. Think, she should be potty training soon and learning to not wet the bed next year, so she needs to be able to get out on her own and be a little independent at times.

yeah that another HUGE issue with this. Ive been trying to potty train her but Im having no luck. I wodered with this lock situation what I would do once she actually is potty trained. The problem is she cant use the bathroom next to the room and the one onther bath room is all the way up here.

She needs to be able to get to the potty. You can't lock her in the room and then be disappointed if she is not potty training. Like i said get the alarmed gate. That way you can have you cake and eat it too...Now why can't she use the potty next to her room????
