No ovulation or what?

I'm confused.
I was told by the midwives that you're super fertile right after pregnancy, because your body is 'missing a pregnancy', so use birth control. Sure, gotcha. Then I read yesterday that you don't ovulate until after the first postpartum period.
...Didn't think you could be super fertile if you don't ovulate, or one of those is wrong? Can anyone shed some light?

(I'm not TTC or anything, lol. Just reading up about postpartum periods and that seemed odd, thought I'd ask here)

i think you do ovulate but when you ovulate your twice as fertile as a normal ovulation cycle   so there both correct just put in 2 stages of different context
