Hearing voices *update pg 3*

I'm getting really worried...
My daughter is 7 and lately she said she has been hearing voices. She said when she is angry voices tell her to stab herself...and when she is mad at someone it says to stab them. She gets so scared and just cries and cries and covers her ears. Plus sometimes she says "Serenity (her 2yr old sister) is so cute when she cries so I hit her to watch her cry" or "the cat is so cute I just want to squeeze it so hard". Its only been happening the last month. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened lately...so I don't know what may have triggered it.

Anyway, I am planning on making her an appt with her pediatrician next week. I was wondering if anyone elses child has ever experienced this.

My daughter doesn't but I did when I was that age. It is very frustrating for her and I'm sure for you as her parent. I'm sorry

I would take her to the dr ASAP doesn't sound right abnormal thoughts

Honestly sounds like some sort of personality disorder... kinda scary. Hope you get to the bottom of it!

My child doesn't but I personally hear voices that tell me to do things. It was horrible as a child. It is still horrible but now that I'm older I have more perspective on it.

Good on you for getting her to a doctor, that's the first step. She may have any range of mental illness, she may just be going through a phase it could be anything. But good on your for getting her help.

That's how my sister was/is she has schizophrenia, it was detected when she was 13 I believe

Those are the first signs of schizophrenia, get her in ASAP.

sounds like she needs a psychiatric evaluation! I wouldnt be holding off on this at all....

At first I thought she was joking around because she would kinda laugh about it...but today she broke down crying and covering her ears...so I knew she was serious and it was getting worse. I wish they were open on the weekends. I hate not being able to get her looked at right away. I should have taken her in from the moment she said anything...even if it did seem like a joke.

You never imagine your child could be going through something that scary. You can't be blamed

You are getting her the help she needs, that's good.

I would keep an eye on her cos I was like that as a kid and it sent me to some pretty dark places. Not saying she would do anything but she's obviously very scared about what's happening.

You do know the ER as a crissis centre open 24/7 you can go to with her. Honestly I wouldnt wait if I were you. Its serious even if not schizophrenia. Could be something else.

I was going to suggest the ER as well.....they can evaluate her there.....but if she is expressing that she hears voices and they tell her to stab her sibling or herself, she may be admitted to inpatient hospitalization just so your prepared for that....

even if ur peds office is closed they should have an after hrs number u can call to see wat u should do.. if not i would go to the hospital, thats something that should be looked at asap
