I'd say it's pretty normal. It was a couple weeks for sure until I was able to plop down onto the bed or a chair without being like, "Ow!...oh ya, I have stitches". As far as the bathroom thing, you may be unknowingly holding it in. I know I did for a long time out of fear of tearing my stitches. Every nurse, and every place I read said that you can't open your stitches during a bowel movement. I was still skeptical though....but it never happened!   Just try to relax and remember to keep your fluids up. Fluids help flush your system, no matter how much bran and stool softeners you take....plus, it won't hurt as much as if you were slightly dehydrated.

Quite frankly for 3 weeks after birth it felt like I had a 4 inch rip and lost half of my reproductive organs. Had to sit on a pillow, and if I wanted to get up, I had to really want to cause the act of getting up killed! And I didn't tear at all.

Your sits bath and deempower is your best friend. The spray numbed it a little, do you have hemorrhoids? Those hurt more I think, the dr can recommend something or use tucks or prep h. It took about a week for my episiotomy to heal but like a month for the hemorrhoids I was scared to pop bc I felt like razors lol sorry tmi

Sorry but how do you know if you have hemmoroids...I can't poop like at all...haven't in about a week...I just hurt right where the cut is...my husband looked at the wound and said it was healing and not infected or anything. He is helping me clean it once a day really really good because its so hard for me to do it on my own.
