Happy 1st bday!

The little girl i was awarded emergency custody of turned one Thursday, so we held her a split 2nd small bday party today! I don't want to post the actual pics of her since it's not my child but her cake was adorable!

What is emergency custody? If you don't mind explaining for me

Neither parent of her is legally allowed to have custody of her right now, they have both been found unfit so i get emergency custody until they figure out what to do with her permanently.

Is it like foster care?

It just means that since my cousin and her ex husband aren't fit and being investigated by cps to keep her from going into foster care i took custody and gurdianship of their daughter until they go to court and figure out if either of them will regain custody, or who will. It's just to keep her out of their homes and safe until the court can really decide a course of action and where she'll be permanenetly safe at.

So are you a relative or are you in the system as someone who helps in emergency situations like this? That is so nice that you are there for her; would you want to adopt her permanently? I don’t know if I could have a baby like that and want to give her back!

Her mother is my cousin, we're not sure what's going to happen, but if she's taken away permanently then yes we will be taking full custody.
