I didn't give all the details into our (my families) decision cause I didn't think it was that important. I'm sorry to mislead anyone. Now I wish I never would have said anything cause instead of having my words looked at as an opinion they're looked at and critized for the choice. I didn't know that my own name would be a something that makes so many other mothers feel as if they have to be rude, and attack my actual name. I apologize for any bother I placed on anyone with my choice's in my life.

I choose B. I went through a phase in my early teens of hating my name. I grew to love it and I am glad I never changed it, I think a lot of kids go through this phase. Either their name is too common or too unusual or they just don't like it - I'd say most either grow out of it or don't actually care enough to go through the trouble of a legal name change. If by the time they were legally an adult and they still hated it and really truly wanted to change it, I would assist them and call them by their new name. But I agree - I see a TON of smurffy names being used these days, so I will be interested to see if the number of people changing their first names goes up dramatically by the time these kids are adults.

Wow all anyone said was that we wouldn't let our kids change their name to something for those reasons(a childrens book and movie).
How do you think your mom felt when you told her you hated the name she chose for you?
You can have an opinion but nobody else can?

I agree with this, I went through a phase where I hated my name too but now I don't see myself as anything other than my name.

Thankfully so far my 14yr old loves her name and my 11 yr old likes his as well.
