I would go with B.
My brother wanted to change his last name when he was 13 to his fathers last name(his father died when he was 12) But my mom told him he would have to wait till he's 18 to make that type of decision. He's now 21 and says he's glad my mom didn't assist him in changing it.

I hated my full name and would rather legally be Sami lol. But eh. I got over it.

I hated my name growing up! It's not I particularly love it now, but it's my name.

I would not help them legally change it but I'd call them by the name they wanted like a nickname. I had a girl I went to school with named Victoria and she went by Rosie. Whatev.

Awwe I like your name   kinda weird it's my cats name but I didn't name her she was named when we got her and I liked it haha :p

It was way too common back then, I went to school with like 60 others and graduated with 5.

She has to live with it, i wouldn't want her not to be happy with it.

I choose C, but honestly, I think I would consider changing it before 12 if they REALLY hated it that much. The only reason I would change it and not just call them by a different name is that if thier legal name was different (and they hated it) they would still get called that at the school, which would make them more of a target for being picked on (which I would assume would be a big reason for changing it for most kids).

My parents named me Crystal Gail. I'm sure most of you are to young to know, but she used to be a really popular country singer with REALLY long hair. I was tormented by the TEACHERS constantly. The kids could have cared less, but the teachers were always making fun of it  

C but I would probably start calling them by whatever name they wanted at whatever age.
My sister insisted on being called Dorothy for a few months when she was 4 or 5 and we all called her Dorothy until she grew out of it.
Her name is Kimberly.

Oh Lord I went through this with my son when he was 15-16..He wanted to change it to Jacob because of Twilight. He even changed it on his FB! I wouldnt call him by it. He is now 18 and everyone in a while..I will say Hey Jacob..He gets so mad and embarassed hahaha

I would consider changing it at 12-17 and maybe before then. I know how it feels to not be the right name in my case was a last name but nonetheless it wasn't a name I wanted or liked.

B. I would call my child by re name he/she wants but I wouldn't help them change it. They can do that on their own when they turn 18.

considering I have impeccable taste in names, I don't foresee this happening.

However, With the increased popularity of my children's names, I could understand if they wanted to change it for that reason. Hell, that's the reason I almost changed my name.

I'd wait until they were closer to 14-15 before I'd let them, but I'd let them. However, I'd never call them by that name. They'd always be what I named them to me and that would be my only rule.
