I love that name. I have a friend name Mateja and nobody has pronounced it wrong before. As for the spelling error, There isn't many names out there that don't get misspelled because there is so many ways to spell some many names. So i wouldn't worry too much about that anyways. I am not to much of a fan of Madeleine, but it sounds good with the name Mateja.
