Child support and jail
posted 10th Nov
BD might be going to jail for a year. He got a DUI and is on probation. Child support is already set up. He's almost a year behind at this point due to the fact that he doesn't have a job. If he goes to jail and works while he is in there, would they take any of the money he makes to make up for the support he owes?

From what I have heard from a friend, no. They will stop CS. Even if he gets work in jail that money will go to his stay there. However, it could be different in each state

nope.
my friend is in jail and his baby mom only gets $5 a month for 4 kids
ETA: here child support doesn't stop while in jail it just backs up

That's iffy because technically that's state money they are getting while they are staying in prison on state/gov money. I would imagine they could arrange something. You will just have to ask a lawyer
