LOL. There really is no reason why a father can't be just as involved as the mother. It is actually good for the relationship to share the responsibility and good for the relationship with the father and child.

Quoting Not tellin:" I can't lie. I was that way too. I had the "I am the mommy and I know exactly how to do it right and ... [snip!] ... down in the diaper) and just allow him to take control of a few things. He needs that confidence and bond with the boy. ;)"

I tried to show him how to change his diaper (after I was caught re-doing his job) and he took it as me criticizing him -- which I was, but consrtuctively. He hated that. He felt that since this is both of our first child, that we should both be learning at the same pace, and he doesn't feel that "the blind leading the blind" is a good way for me to approach the situation. I guess my maternal instincts kicked in a lot quicker than his paternal instincts (if there are such a thing) So, I do things my way, and he does his, his way...even though my way is the right way ;)

The nurses taught my husband how to change a diaper. Our daughters diapers were the first he ever changed. He was 28 years old! lol He fed his cousins baby a few months before and she was the first baby he ever gave a bottle to. I on the other hand had lots of experience with babies. I knew how to change diapers because I did babysit as a teen and my sister had her kids much earlier than I did mine. I had a pretty good handle on the "obvious" things but there were some things I had to learn right with him.

We both had pretty much the same experiences with babies...haha, the last diaper I changed was 12 years ago! haha...In the hospital, LO pooped and we stood there looking at each other like, "wtf do we do?" I had to call the nurse in to show us how to do it   I'm scared smurfless when it comes time to feed LO solids, because I have no idea where to begin...how much to feed, how often, etc...I'm afraid of failing

You won't fail. I promise. I didn't start solids until after the 6 month mark. then I only did super soupy cereal. Just until they were all able to figure out how to take food from a spoon and not suck like a bottle. Your pedi will guide you. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, check out your local community center or YMCA/ YWCA for parenting classes. Often they offer free classes that cover basics and even difficult stages. Tips and ideas not "this is how" type information as every child and situation is very different.

Well don't take it wrong it wasn't SO saying that it just was my idea so he isn't exhausted. He said he doesn't care what we do as to her sleeping arrangements he said its up to me. But I am thinking I will just keep her in our room, lately I feel like I won't be able to leave her in her room alone like I just won't like it.
