I am scheduled for my c-section in 5days. When I get home the following Monday I have a rambunctious 6 and 8 yr old I need to put on the bus. If you step outside of my back door and walk one door to the road I can see them the half block up on the corner. I'm asking for mercy here. Of the 3 option what would you do? With cold weather aproaching do I 1) load up baby and drive the half block 2) load baby and just drive them the 12 blocks to school in bad weather 3) take the monitor and stand at the edge of the alley until she cries or the bus comes, what would you do?

1 or 2 sounds good, but don't leave your baby in the house by his or her self

Is there a father involved?

depends on the kids I guess, how comfortable they are without you there, and just how cold it is?

but... you might not be up to driving yet.. I know I was told 2 weeks until I could drive

My husband leaves for work way before the bus and I'm not even sure I will be able to carry the carseat yet..

you won't.. and shouldn't.

can't he take time off work? has he been there a year? many men don't know that FMLA covers paternity leave as well as maternity leave.

but.. if need be... you can have him install the carseat... and you just take baby in and out of it instead of the entire seat. You shouldn't lift anything heavier than baby for 8 weeks.

He has a few years there but they do not offer paid time off. He is using vacation time to be there. My boys are very busy and I'm afraid if they know I can't see them they will act up. Like I said the edge og my alley is fifteen ft from my back door and my monitor is good for sixty. I'm not talking about going to the bus stop at all and I have it down to 2min or less when the bus arrives. I'm afraid of driving in the ice and snow with the kids and a new surgery.

with my ex..... we had it so that he worked while I was in teh hospital (took day of c-section off though)... then used vacation time after I got home. You really will need more help at least the first couple weeks. How much vacation time does he have? It's worth it to use the vacation time to be home to help you.

?? he only has 2 days of vacation left? how much does he get? why didn't you guys save them for after you have baby?

I'd go to the appt alone.. and have him there to help with 3kids after you've been cut open.. but that's just my experience

I'd just drive them to school then... because I would not be ok with leaving baby unattended.... but remember you wont' be able to carry the carseat.. so he'd have to have it installed already in the car.

you might have it down to 2 minutes... but there's no guarantee. buses sometimes run late... what if baby starts screaming before bus gets there? do you let baby scream... or leave your boys unattended?

If and only if I did that I said I would have my monitor on me, I could hear her cry. I said I would be out until the got on unless she cried. I'm tired and hormonal, just throwing stuff out there. I don't have extended family or money for him to stay home. It is what it is.

how many days after your csection are u talking about....u are not cleared to drive for a few weeks after surgery and if u were to get in an accident (God forbid) the insurance company could w/hold compensation   sorry u r in such a dilema. I honestly would just bundle the baby up really good, pop the baby in the stroller, cover the stroller and walk the boys to the point u can watch them at the bus stop.

I'm not sure about messing with a stroller or not, I think I'm gonna get a snuggie or a wrap to carry her close probably in my coat with a top blanket untill I can drive.
