!!

what if they are an adict but have kids? well.. then they should stop blowing money on drugs and support their kids? If they cannot make the decision to feed their kids instead of buing drugs.. they are likely teh same type to sell food stamps for drug money anyway...

I'm ALL for drug testing for welfare. I know in FL... you pay a small fee. If you pass.. they give you that moeny back anyway

it's actually not that expensive... and the people have to pay it.

t's not the kids fault? you realize the kids can get taken away.. and HELPED if parents are found to be addicts right?

Quoting Mommy2Kay:" But welfare should be temporary, our gov't should be helping people get better not worse. If all assistant ... [snip!] ... If all assistant is cut, they will fall deeper in the whole because an addict will find a way to satisfy their addiction."

Sadly, most people don't see it as that, and just leech the system. There are ways to get addicts help without supplying them with assistance. Hell i know people that sell their food stamps so they can buy beer and weed. And they have kids that NEED those food stamps. My point is, just because they ARE getting assistance, doesn't mean they are using it how they should anyways.

exactly... the addict will find a way to satisfy their addiction... the welfare isn't helping them... and geting off it.. won't make them worse.

I think there should be some area of compromise. It would be more helpful for addicted parents be offered some help and if they can get and stay clean they be allowed to keep their benefits. Or something to that degree.

Let's see how often CPS actually REMOVES the kids though.
I'm saying it's not the kids fault because some kids use the cards and do all the shopping while their parents are out smurfing around or whatever.

and WHY would the people have to pay for it? The cheapest drug testing thing around here I have heard of is 20 bucks... majority of the people that need help don't have 20 bucks. thats just stupid

I agree and even when they abuse the help they dont take care of their kids more like use them as a reason to get govt help.

Lmao.
No you don't. I used to live in Florida, got drug tested through DCF to continue receiving benefits, passed my test and all that. I'm still out $30.

Drug users shouldn't get assistance until they clean up their act. Why should tax payers money go towards their addiction? If you have to drug test to get a job drug test to get money and food stamps!!!

Maybe those who are doing drugs will think twice about getting on assistance or will stop. Kind of like if yu know a job drug test then they are not going to apply for it. If they care about their children then they will stop to help them. Then again I think weed should be legal, they should test for hard drugs

I agree, but they shouldn't get anything while getting clean. Maybe take benefits away for 3 months, and make them test every month, and if not clean, they don't get their assistance back.

um... if I needed $20 to get hundreds in free food and money.. I could find it. Smurf.. I could pawn something. Then.... when I passed.. I get that moeny back.

it's not stupid.. it makes sense. someone who knows they'll pass it and get the money back should hav eno problem paying for it

They tried to do it before in Florida. 90% passed it and it costed the state even more money to do the drug tests. Also, like you said not the kids fault if a parent does drugs.

ETA: Not everyone who does drugs buys them either. When I use to smoke weed I rarely bought it, people always smoked me out.
