Disneyland:Guest Assistance Pass

posted 9th Nov
What does it do?

We are going in February and it was highly recommended we get this. I was under the impression from those that told me to get it that it was basically used to be able to skip the long line ups with your special needs child.

I sent and email to disney with some questions about our trip and figure out some things for his sensory issues (he has autism) and got back an email that seemed very cut and paste like that said that the pass was "never intended to be used for skipping or shortening ride wait times".

Anyone use it before?

Basically it just helps you get around the park, no skipping lines. They'll help if you need assistance with something

It tech to be used for the people that are in wheel chairs but yes it basically lets u skip lines. Some of them will wright a return time others will allow u to just go thew on the express side.

You don't get to skip ahead, but you can ask to sit aside from the crowd. Also they have a thing where an adult can ride ahead and the family wait. So the adult can determine whether or not it would be suitable.

( I just did research on this for school and personal use)

That's a "fast pass" that lets you skip the line.

When it's busy they put you in a special line. Usually you go through the exit.

Okay, this is what I was wondering. I've spoken with many in autism forums that said they were assited to "skip the long line" and that in some situations (character meet and greets) they were actually pulled out of line and brought up to the front right away.

I have no problem waiting when he CAN wait, but his tolerance and understanding of that is so limited and if he goes into a meltdown then the whole day is done   it's not something he'll just "get over" in a few minutes.

I tried for my son who also has autism and it wasn't to help you get through lines faster. Basically, it was worthless so I didn't do it.

From everything I'm finding so far, it's totally based on need not diagnosis. It gets you in the fastpass or disability line so it can dramatically cut the wait time, or be about the same.

Apparantly you just have to be REALLY clear about what the issues are, so for him it would be: waiting, crowds, feeling to enclosed, some loud noises, some light sensitivity, becoming obsessed on things and not being able to get away from them, etc. From all the pages I've just found, while it's not a "front of the line pass" during low season it might as well be (if you get the stamps that allow you to use those other lines)

They will do the child swap thing and you use either the exit or a special shorter line. well 98% of the time it's a shorter line. We have used it almost every trip. For some reason every single time we go someone get's hurt or sick and end up in a wheel chair.

Oh! Good to know we can still do the child swap, not sure how that would work. For the most part, we will all be going on the rides, but there are a few (the new Lightening McQueen one, Star tours and a few others) that my youngest is to short for. My parents would still want to do the ride after dh and I take our ASD son, so good to know we could switch out.

From what I've read, it's all in how you present it at the when you ask for it. Like if I just say "Well, he doesn't like waiting" they probably won't give it to u (or a stamp that will help) but if I explain how he can't stand being crowded by people taller than him, the emotional disregulation and self harm if he melts down, etc, we should be ok.
