posted 9th Nov

How do you make yours? Any special rub or recipe for it?

I need help mommas I want my DH and his family to love the turkey I cook.

I get a turkey bag. I think Reynold's makes it. I flip the turkey upside down and let it cook upside down in it's own juice for a few hours. Most tender turkey I have ever made. Super juicy.

I actually put some broth in the bottom of the roasting pan with a few sliced onions.
With the turkey, I mix butter, pepper, salt, a bit of garlic, and rosemary and rub it all over.
I melt the butter, brush it on turkey, then rub the spices on.
Also, I don't baste the turkey often. The more you open the oven door, the temp drops and it can dry the turkey out.

TURKEY! Ahh, I want Thanksgiving!
Anyways, honey glazed turkey is incredible. I personally have never had to make a turkey either. We usually spend Thanksgiving at my great grandmother's house, but here is a link for the recipe. I believe it's the one she uses.

We normally spatchcock it, because it cooks faster and very, very juicy.

I brush it in olive oil mixed with sage, fresh cracked black pepper and sea salt.

This sounds yummy! How often do you baste it? I know my sister does it every 30 minutes and it's usually dry... :/

Is it hard to spatchcock it? Or you kinda just cut around the bones to remove it that way?

It depends on how long it has to cook. Usually I baste it every 1.5-2hrs.

Yup. You just cut it out and flatten it. It's awesome.

I inject my turkey and also brine it the day before. I usually just make my own marinade and I put that in my injector, and do it different places around the turkey, but a lot in the breasts of the turkey
