Scared for the csection

posted 9th Nov
I am having a csection in 17 days, I am really nervous   my first one was an emergancy csection and I was MISERABLE! I don't want an epidural it made me feel like total crap, I was sick and shaking, they put like 8 warm blankets on me and I still could not stop shaking, I am scared of feeling them cut me again, because as much as they TOLD me I felt nothing, I did...I am scared of something going wrong and like me bleeding to death or something. I do not want to try labor again and end up it needing to be an emergency again, so I just feel this is my best bet, not to mention my doctor is against me trying to deliver vaginally again. But I am just real scared :/ anyone make me feel better, by telling me their 2nd csection stories! lol hopefully no horror storys :/

My 2nd c-section was much easier than my first.

I was doing the shaking cold thing after my first c-section for hours. I didn't get that with my 2nd or 3rd. Tell them you could feel them cutting last time so they need to make sure you're good and numb before starting anything.

I know it's scary, but they do this surgery a LOT.

My second was much better than my first. My only scare was he was 5 weeks early but he was super healthy.

It seemed to be quicker, and less nerve wrecking because I knew what was happening. I just kept an open mind and thought about seeing my son rather than what they were doing to me.

I got out of bed a lot sooner than I did my first and I think that helped with my healing process.

Do they give you an epidural your 2nd time? or something else? I had that while trying to push and that is when it made me feel terrible...I just felt so sick and shaky, what sucks is I can't stand that numbing feeling and that thing they wrap on your legs after words. I just wish I can push this baby out with NOTHING lol

Both of my C-Sections were great, the second one was easier. You most likely won't get an epidural with this one since it is a planned section, you will probably get a spinal which will make you super numb from the waist down. Just walk as much as you can when you are able to

I got a spinal both times. I never tried to push. My first c-section was because my daughter was breech. My second was just a repeat. Both my kids came before my scheduled date. My labor with my daughter was light, I had no clue I was dilating. With my son I was in full blown labor and it was considered an 'emergency' to get him delivered. It was much quicker paced than with my daughter but it was an overall better experience. Healed better, felt better, the whole 9 yards. I'm hoping my 3rd is too.

With an epideral don't you have a iv type thing in your back that administers drugs over a period of time?

A spinal is just a shot in the back. Wears off after about an hour or so.

With an epidural, they leave a catheter in your back to pump the meds. A spinal is just one shot into your lower back and that's it. After like 3 hours with my son, it wore off and I was walking.

My 2nd c-section was so much easier! you probably won't get the epidural but you will most likely get the spinal block. Honestly, it was kind of scary because you can't feel yourself breathe but trust me, you are! lol I still got cold but it was from the IV meds. They will let you see baby and then you will be put into recovery. Basically the same as the emergency c-section (my first one was too) but it is less hectic and therefore less scary! I am having my 3rd c-section on Tuesday so I know what you are feeling but it's a lot easier knowing what to expect... Good Luck...

As far as the cold, I was cold because they keep the OR cold on purpose. Once I got to recovery, I stopped shivering.

Yup, wears off pretty quick. You can even ask to start walking once you get feeling back.
