Cold causing this?

The other day my throat started to get really sore and it looked like I had a couple of blisters on my uvula. I wasn't sure at first if I was getting strep throat or if I burned it from my hot latte. Yesterday my gums started to bother me and now they are sore and really red. My throat actually feels better but I definitely feel a cold coming on. I've sneezed a lot today and now my nose is stuffy. Can a cold cause sore/irritated gums/gum infection?
