I don't think they are making him the fall guy.

If that were true, wouldn't that just give him clearance to speak freely on why he resigned? I mean they can keep a lid on it far better if petraeus was still under their thumb.

Hope that makes sense, I'm been up a long time and inhaled far too many cleaning chemicals.

I'm sure they had him sign a non-disclosure agreement which is pretty standard when you leave a high level post in an organization, whether government or private. If he violated said NDO, that would result in jail time.

He is the fall guy. Tell me one politican or Gov official that resigned over an affair that no one knew about or even cared about. Didn't see Kennedy or Clinton resign.

Yeah I figured he would be hushed up on details, but couldn't he just say 'I had no choice in resigning' or 'I didn't resign because of an affair'. None of those really says anything, but both would add a ton of fuel to the fire

I guess I'm confused on the whole thing. I've heard patraeus resigned because he didnt want to continue helping a cover up. I've heard he was forced to resign to appear as the 'fall guy'. And now I'm really confused about how the affair was even found out about in the first place because although they stress that patraeus himself wasn't under an investigation, it kind of appears that way.

I genuinely like Obama and think he's a good leader, you know this, but this whole patraeus mess really has me wanting some answers about benghazi. Not just from Obama, from everyone.

Me too! I just think that at some point someone would blow the lid off of everything, jail or not. Then again I think I watch too many movies.

Well apparently he's been under investigation for the past 6 months. So, predicting he's going to resign wouldn't have been hard for those who knew about the investigation.

From what I gather, he has been under investigation for about 6 months ago. Apparently there was a breach of security and his computer was combed through to make sure there wasn't anything with his computer, or something, I can't remember exactly what happened. But anyway, apparently the chick he was having an affair with had access to his computer and had very easy access to pretty sensitive information.

The government is corrupt. This is yet, another cover-up.
