2 month old loss

my closest friend is having to take her 2 month old off life support today. I am heartbroken for her and family. we are in our 30's now and I met both of them back in 7th grade.

I don't know what to do for them... I guess I can't do anything but tell them I am here if they need anything.

I am wondering in situations like this will the family hold a service? They are religious?

I would hold a service for the child.

Thats horrible They are in my thoughts and prayers : ( wishing them the best!!I would not want to know what that feels like!

When my daughter passed at 2 hours old we held a service and we aren't exactly the most religious family out there

  So sad to have to do that to your own child. I'm so sorry for their loss.

They knew she was going to be born with a problem... but that was covering much more problems that they did not know about. She has been on full ventilation since birth... her Mommy never got to hold her with out a tube down her throat. Today the Dr said it is time to stop the treatment or let her go in her own time. The parents are having a hard time deciding.

I want to help some way, I thought maybe if they want a service I could some how help. I just don't know what is normal in these situations.

I hate to hear such painful news. They definitely need to have a service. As her best friend you should enlist friends and family to help with their home maintanence and with bringing meals.

I would ask them first if they wanted to hold a service. Then go from there.

She had a a very rear condition called Omphalocele the baby has no abdominal wall when they have this. They all new it would be a hard road maybe a few months in the NICU but when she was born they found something else.

Her lungs were very underdeveloped. but she started to get better after a month in the hospital. The Dr said she would probably be on ventilation her whole life.

But a few days ago she took a huge step back and now her body is tired. Her heart is not handing the ventilation. Her body is just very overwhelmed and shutting down.

So toay they had to choose to stop the veltalation and let her go or keep it and let her go when that happens. They do have a DNR so I think today they are just waiting, she is not talking to amyone becuase she is with her baby now so I am not exactly sure what is going on.   it is sad
