Are those the only two options-I wouldn't keep any part of the sperm donor's name.

Well, I dont know. See...I am just confused. His dad;s name is Robert, his grandfather and great grandfather's name is robert. My son loves his last name? For some odd reason.....

Just remove his name if he isn't going to be their legal parent any more.

I would just keep Robert and take away the last name. That's what we did when I got adopted by my dad

If he loves his last name, I'd keep that one. If he's old enough to help in the decision, he should.

He is 7.5. I guess he is old enough. I wouldnt mind if he wanted a different middle name all together, but I am curious if I could just completely change his middle name to something else if he wanted? Perhaps Mason Grant....that was suppose to be his name all along, but it ended up being Robert instead of Grant.

I'm pretty sure you can change it to anything. Maybe just sit him down and ask him what name he would like to have?

If you wanted to you could Completely Change his Entire Name. Keeping absolutely nothing of the name he Has/Had.
However at 7.5 I would definitely let HIM have a Say in what His Name should be.
With the Exception of the Last Name, that Should be the Same as Yours!
Bio-Dad's Last name could be in there if he's a Decent Dad, but as a Middle Name or something.
