Smalll baby by %, c-section

posted 9th Nov
I am due Dec 9. My baby is measuring in the <10% category. Well this is still in the 'normal' range so honestly I am not terribly concerned but my doctor is, of course, acting like I HAVE to have a C-section. She says when the baby is small each contraction can be hard on her, her heart rate can drop. I am understanding that it is normal for a babys heart rate to drop a bit during contractions anyhow so what is the problem if she is still in the normal range?

I live in a country where there is no patients bill of rights or anything and I am in no way comfortable to do a homebirth HERE (though if in USA I would do it with a midwife). I am thinking to take some castor oil two days before whatever day DR. schedules me for a C.
I had one other child here, by C, for other reasons. I really like my DR to be honest but just not THIS situation.

Have any of you used castor oil to induce? How did it work for you? Have any of you had a 'small' baby (but still full term)? Did you deliver vaginally with the small baby? Any problems with a vaginal delivery for you and a small baby?

I was told my son was too small, and I was forced into induction. It ended in csection for other reasons. He came out a very average 6 1/2 pounds. Doctors can be wrong.

I've never even heard of needing a c-section for a small baby. Itsbusuallybtye opposite.
I've never taken caster oil, but can you just tall to your doctor and ask her to try to let you go vaginally.

Have you asked? It would be worth asking if you could go naturally. If not I normally wouldn't think castor oil is right but in this situation you have to weigh the differences.

Castor oil is just going to cause you to crap your brains out. Don't do it.

Yes I've told her I want to go vaginally. But I'm not in USA or similar country where you have the same patient rights. Basically my doctor can refuse to deliver me if she wants, most clinques are private an can refuse to take me in (i would NEVER go to a public hospital here) especially if I don't have a doctor associated with them.
I know it is not unusual for a abnormally small baby to be born via C but my baby is still measuring in the 'normal' range just in the very bottom of it. There is no reason she shouldn't come out at least 6lbs. and like someone ^^^ posted doctors and ultrasounds certainly can be wrong.
I know castor oil will cause diarrhea lol but if it can help to induce me come 40 weeks I'm willing...plus bowel movements can help progress labor.

I realize that youre not in the USA and don't have the same legal protection, I saw that in the op. I just meant that since you like your doctor, if you have a good communicative relationship with her, could you not just discuss your preferences with her?

I would be willing to try it but I doubt doctor will....I could maybe find another doctor who would do it...I'll have to check into that. Good idea.

I have discussed it with her. This will maybe be hard to understand cause it's so different from what we experience in US and other 'developed' countries but doctors here aren't used to ppl questioning their directives lol. Most patients here just do whatever it is the doctor tells them and most patients here are pretty ignorant to their own bodies. I do think my doctor knows I am not like that but I also think she will just refuse to deliver me or induce me...actually i know NO ONE here who has ever been induced (i.e. pitocin or similar) that I'm not even sure they do it!
I like my doctor very much but this subject is one we disagree strongly on and there aren't many other ob's in my city. I keep thinking if I can induce with castor oil and wait labor out at home by the time I go into the clinique she'll have to deliver me...and well I can claim to be one of those freaks of nature who didn't feel labor lol
