what are you getting your kids for xmas?

posted 9th Nov
I am so out of ideas!! My child has everything, and I really don't know what to get her. She has every barbie toy and accessory to go with. She has a million and one stuffed animals, she has a ton of board games and books, clothes, and so many toys. She already has a cat and a dog, and I am not getting anymore pets any time soon. What are you getting your 4.5 year old. Someone suggested that I get her an iPad.. but there is no way in hell.. she'd have that thing broken in a day.

P.S. Does anyone shop online for their kids stuff? I was thinking maybe I could find stuff that way? If you do, could you please let me know what sites you use?

The budget for her is around 500-600 for everything (big toy from Santa, big toy from us, stocking stuffers, and then some smaller stuff.) I usually do dollarama for most of her stocking stuffers, but that's about all I have figured out at this point.

Thanks ladies.

Last year at Christmas my son had just turned 5 and I got him a LeapPad and he still plays with that thing almost daily.

Mine is 6, but this year she picked out a Gak color mixer thing, a furby, and some other small things. She has a Leapster Explorer. Kinda like a gameboy for kids, and all the games are educational. She loves it, and it's pretty indestructible if it gets dropped. I'm gonna get her a mini Boba, so she can wear her dolls/stuffed animals like I wear DS, and some doll cloth diapers so I don't have to keep buying her disposables for her dolls since we already use cloth on DS.

No worries! I've been at a loss myself this year... My son's dad buys him EVERYTHING he wants on the weekends so it leaves me with nothing to get him. I actually cried over a stupid Furby last weekend! I had went out and bought him one for Christmas just to find out my ex had gotten him one that very day and already given it to him.

Thanks! Definitely wanna get her a leappad, that would be super nice for car rides too! My family all lives 2 hours a way and we travel to visit them quite often! A furbie might be a good idea for her as well!

RIGHT!? If she does't have it here her dad has it for her. He spoils her to no end, and half the time I buy her something and give it to her I get "I already have that at my dads.." It's so disappointing!!

Rue is 5, so they're very close in age...

We're getting her an American girl doll...They run at about $105 for the doll, 1 outfit, and charm necklace. The cool thing about the American Girl dolls is that you can get them customized to look similiar to your daughter. (I know, it sounds creepy, but it's actually pretty cool) Then, with that, we're getting her Caroline's nightgown set...Basically, it's an outfit that comes with a pajama set for your daughter, and one for the doll as well. That's going to run about $65, I think...We're also getting her the Savannah dress and matching doll outfit, which is going to run for another $75 or so...It 's pretty pricey stuff, but it's her big present this year. (We never did Santa with the girls, so we just need a big present from us)

I have no idea if this helps you out, but it's definitely an awesome gift idea for girls in that agegroup!

We went through and donated 4 boxes of LO's toys.

She wants this:

And maybe an Innotab 2. If my dad doesn't say he is getting her one.

Plus the MLP's she doesn't have- Apple Jack, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie.

Those are all really great ideas, I want to look into the doll for sure! Where do you go to buy something like that?

You have to order it online...Just google American Girl Dolls and it'll take you right to the site. You can get accessories and even craft sets (To make items for the dolls!) at Wal-Mart, but the dolls and outfits have to be ordered online...Usually we shop at stores, but for this we agreed to go online. It's awesome! She's wanted one for awhile, so it made her shopping really easy. (We have a similar budget to yours) I'm stuck on what to get my 3 year old...

lol, I think we might do the leap pad now too, it looks awesome, and it works with the games she already has. That might be her Santa gift.
